Sandia was born in Konkourona, Burkina Faso in 1939. She has lost 7 children and 5 grandchildren to preventable illnesses before they were 5 years old. Because there is no health clinic for miles, diseases like malaria, diarrhea and pneumonia, have taken the lives of hundreds in the village. As a matriarch in the village, Sandia would like to see a world where children do not die from preventable diseases. Construction of the Sandia Primary Health Center will bring her great joy.
